Sustainability performance

Our work encompasses a variety of tasks, including all the effort we put into certifications and improvements. We are committed to constantly challenging ourselves, striving for improvement and meet tomorrow`s standards. At NG Group, circularity is seen as the foundation for the business activities, and the group takes an integrated approach to its sustainability work. We are working to develop and commercialize new technology to facilitate a global circular economy and to become the leading industrial supplier of sustainable solutions.

Avoided emissions

When recycled raw materials replace the need for primary resources, significant emissions resulting from the extraction of new primary materials can be avoided. NG Group calculated the avoided emissions associated with its recycling and recovery solutions compared to the extraction of virgin material. These avoided emissions are reported separately from greenhouse gas accounting. The group is raising its ambitions to share more information and data about its impacts on the environment, people, and society throughout the value chain with customers and other stakeholders. The group continuously assesses and monitors existing sustainability issues and is eager to identify and refine its approach to material topics. The group plans to conduct a new double materiality assessment in 2024. The assessment will be in accordance with new standards and guidance from the EU through the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the corresponding European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).

Emissions from our operations

NG Group calculates scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions following the guidelines from the GHG protocol and has implemented emissions reduction targets in line with the Science Based Target Initiative.

The main emission source is related to scope 3 emissions and downstream handling of waste streams. Thus, we have a great responsibility in the choice of solution. (0ESR1) We strive to optimize the life of materials by handling the resources as high in the resource pyramid as possible, trough recycling and life extension of materials. (0ESR2)

A key part of waste handling is logistics and sorting operations (0ESR3). We aim to continuously reduce both energy consumption and direct carbon dioxide (0ESR4) emissions through a transition to a fossil-free fleet and electrification of machinery.
